Areas of focus in my life

I read this post and thought it might be interesting to take these 8 Areas of Focus and prioritize them according to my actual way of thinking:

Health

You may have read why this Area is, by far, my number one priority. I believe it’s the foundation for whatever comes next. I think mental and physical health are indivisible so I try to take care for both at the same level.

Relationships

This Area is important not only for harvesting what keeps the foundation healthy, but also for moving forward the following areas. I know I said that love is hard before, but that doesn’t mean I won’t keep working on it. And, aside from a partner, you have other relationship circles to attend.

I can already see a pattern here: all Areas go back to the foundation and forward to the next area. They are also interconnected.

Spirituality

Last year I started working on “just” being present. It may not be something I can achieve but maybe something I can maintain. I feel this Area is important to build the bridges between the self and what I once considered external.

Personal Development

I understand this Area as one thing I’ve been doing since I was born and should keep doing for the rest of my life. Reminds me of a quote that goes something like this:

Keep the brain active and you’ll age (live) gracefully.

Purpose in life

I believe the first purpose is to live and everything goes from there. In the practical finding your purpose sense, I experienced it’s more like your purpose finds you. Oh, and that it’s not like ONE purpose, I evolved through several and will keep at it.

Finances

I have to care about money to some extent because I am part of a money exchange system. That said, some days I think I’m a mess and other days I’m conscious that I get by. So, perhaps I’m not as messy as I think or I am and it doesn’t really matter. I like to think this Area is not that relevant as society and culture led us to think.

Career

I believe this Area is a constant process where all the other Areas converge. I already hinted that I think all areas are interconnected but, for me, this one feels like it specially benefits from all the others contributing in the definition and redefinition of your career path.

Lifestyle

I like to tell myself I couldn’t care less about lifestyle but it is actually part of all the other areas (I’m getting repetitive, I know). You pick a sport, you get health. You get to know another being, you get a relationship. You make time for yourself, you get spirituality. You pick an interest, you get personal development. You take the previous sentences, you get purpose. You choose what you spend your money on, you are in finance mode. You choose what you need or where to live, you define your career path.

So this is how my priorities are set for these Areas of Focus that inspired this post.

Thank you for reading.
