[Don’t] mind the brackets
I’ve tried and keep an eye on all the personal knowledge management systems, which usually include a set of rules that allow you to also contain your journaling or private maybe not so polished writing.
However, I found that to keep myself in the habit of writing at least 15 minutes a day, I had to remove every point of friction I could encounter, including connections, backlinks, wikilinks or whatever.
Turns out it’s a “thing”, defined as free writing. It even has a dedicated Wikipedia page. Well, that’s more or less what I do.
The benefit? Offloading my thoughts and getting them to be silenced for a little while. All in the pursue of some peace of mind. And, If I’m lucky, I get to organize my thoughts, make connections, and all the fancy stuff, all for the price of just writing without even looking at the screen.
If you try it out, let me know.
Thank you for reading.
